Basic insurance (OKP)
According to the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG):
- psychological psychotherapists can bill basic insurance on their own account when a doctor orders the therapy;
- one order covers at most 15 sessions, and a further 15 can be ordered; beyond 30, the insurer must approve the cost;
- regular orders come from specialists such as GPs in general internal medicine, psychiatrists and paediatricians; any doctor can order up to 10 sessions once for a crisis or short therapy;
- the older "delegated" psychotherapy ended on 31 December 2022.
Many Swiss Jungian analysts are also federally recognised psychotherapists, but not all. Ask the analyst whether they can bill basic insurance under this model.
